JetBlue Vacations claims after a delayed or cancelled flight

A JetBlue Vacations disruption can create separate claims against the operating airline, the package organiser, hotel and insurer. EU261 or UK261 fixed compensation follows the operating carrier on a protected departure. Flight refund or rerouting, hotel changes and package-price reduction are different remedies. Do not submit the whole holiday value as airline delay compensation.

Check your case in the form

Enter your route, date and type of disruption. We will check whether your case qualifies for a claim under EU 261/2004 or UK261.

Step 1 of 813% completed

What happened to your flight?

Claim up to €600 for a delayed or cancelled flight.

Choose the situation that applies to your flight:

Begin with the JetBlue compensation overview and the package confirmation showing each service provider.

When a separate agency issued the air ticket, the JetBlue OTA guide helps identify who controls the refund.

JetBlue Vacations branding does not make every supplier JetBlue Airways. Read the itinerary, invoice and terms accepted at purchase.

EU261 and UK261 still apply to the flight

If JetBlue operates a package flight departing Paris, Amsterdam, Dublin or another EU airport, EU261 can provide EUR 250-600 per eligible passenger. A London departure can provide GBP 220-520 under UK261. Package status does not reduce those amounts.

The fixed claim uses final destination on the continuous air booking, cancellation notice, cause and operating carrier. It does not reimburse hotel nights or excursions. Those losses belong in another row.

A US-origin JetBlue flight to Europe normally lies outside EU261 and UK261. DOT refund, JetBlue policy, package terms and insurance can still help.

Flight refund versus package refund

When JetBlue cancels and the passenger declines alternative air transport, unused flight fare should be refunded under applicable airline rules. That does not automatically cancel the hotel or return the entire package price.

If the cancellation destroys the package's essential purpose, the organiser's terms and mandatory package law can create broader rights. EU Directive 2015/2302 protects qualifying packages sold to EU travellers and imposes organiser responsibility for performance. Whether JetBlue Vacations sold a regulated package to a particular passenger depends on point of sale, contract and services.

Ask for a component breakdown. Without it, the parties may each attribute the same amount to someone else.

Rerouting can preserve the holiday

A passenger who still wants the trip should ask JetBlue for earliest reasonable rerouting and tell the package contact about changed arrival. The organiser may need to protect the hotel, transfer or activity.

Do not accept flight refund if continued carriage is preferred. Once air transport is abandoned, recovering a self-purchased replacement can become harder. On a protected EU or UK journey, reasonable partner rerouting may be required.

Send the new itinerary to the hotel and transfer provider. Keep responses showing whether the first night or pickup was lost.

Lost hotel nights and activities

EU261's fixed amount compensates inconvenience and does not require proof of the hotel loss. A distinct prepaid, non-refundable night can potentially be addressed through package law, contract, insurance or Montreal Convention proven damages. Double recovery is not allowed.

Mitigate by asking the organiser to move dates or preserve value. Retain invoices and refusal. A vague screenshot of a holiday total does not prove the cost of one missed service.

For an international flight delay, Montreal liability is subject to causation, reasonable mitigation and a 6,303 SDR ceiling under JetBlue's current contract. The ceiling is not a flat payout.

Care at the airport

On a protected EU or UK departure, JetBlue owes reasonable meals, hotel and airport transport according to waiting time even though accommodation was already included at destination. An overnight departure delay may therefore require an additional local hotel.

On US-origin controllable events, JetBlue's recorded commitments can provide meals and lodging to eligible travellers. Package hotel credit is separate. Keep all itemised receipts and state which night each covers.

Changes made by the passenger

If the traveller voluntarily cancels the package while flights remain scheduled, the package cancellation terms apply. Fear of possible disruption is not an airline cancellation. Check flexibility and insurance before acting.

If JetBlue changes only the flight schedule, capture the original itinerary and ask the package organiser to adapt linked services. A major international timing shift, changed airport, added connection or downgrade can trigger US refund rights if alternatives are declined.

Evidence and contact sequence

  1. Save the package contract, invoice and supplier list.
  2. Preserve the original air e-ticket and operating carrier.
  3. Record JetBlue's disruption and replacement options.
  4. Notify the package contact and each time-sensitive supplier.
  5. Keep component refunds, credits and denials in a ledger.
  6. Submit EU261 or UK261 fixed compensation to the operator.
  7. Submit package or insurance loss to the correct separate party.

Ask for a case number from JetBlue Vacations and JetBlue Airways where both are involved. Similar names should not merge the records.

For a group, identify which travellers held flight tickets and which package services were shared. Statutory compensation is calculated per eligible passenger, while one hotel room or transfer should not be multiplied by the number of occupants. Obtain authority before one adult submits claims for the others.

Example

A family books Paris-New York flights, five hotel nights and airport transfer. JetBlue cancels the outbound one day before travel for a routine technical reason and reroutes them 24 hours later. Each eligible passenger may claim EUR 600 from JetBlue, care during the wait, and package adjustment for the lost hotel night or transfer through the organiser. The flight was used, so there is no refund of the rerouted transportation.

This guide reflects rules checked on 14 August 2026. Package terms and point-of-sale law must be verified for the actual booking.

FAQ

Does EU261 refund my entire JetBlue Vacations package?

No. EU261 governs flight remedies; package accommodation and activities require separate contract or package-law analysis.

Who pays EUR 600 on a package flight?

The airline that operated the protected disrupted flight generally pays statutory fixed compensation.

Can I claim a missed hotel night?

Potentially through the organiser, contract, insurance or proven delay damages, but not as an automatic extra EU261 amount.

Should I cancel the package after a flight change?

First ask for rerouting and package adaptation. Voluntary cancellation can activate restrictive package terms.

Can the same receipt be paid twice?

No. Keep a ledger and disclose refunds or insurance recovery for the same loss.
