How to cancel an Air Serbia booking and check the refund
Short answer: when the passenger chooses to cancel an Air Serbia booking without an airline disruption, refund depends on the fare rules attached to that ticket, any flexible conditions, unused taxes, seller and timing. EU261, Serbian passenger compensation and UK261 do not create a fixed payment for a voluntary cancellation. The label in the booking system affects processing. If Air Serbia sent a cancellation notice, save it before contacting the carrier or agent and state that reimbursement is disruption-based.
Read the fare conditions, not the cabin name
Economy or business cabin does not by itself prove that a ticket is refundable. Airlines sell several fare conditions inside one cabin, and a flexible ticket can still carry a cancellation fee.
Find:

- fee per passenger and sector;
- treatment after the first flight is used;
- no-show surcharge or loss of fare;

Cancel before the no-show point
If plans are definitely changing, contact the seller before check-in or departure. A no-show can cancel onward or return coupons and impose a greater fee. Ask Air Serbia or the agent to confirm that remaining sectors stay active.
For a multi-sector ticket, using flights out of sequence can invalidate later coupons under the conditions of carriage. Do not simply skip the first sector and expect the return booking to remain unchanged.
Keep written confirmation of cancellation time, refundable total, retained fee and status of all other passengers. One traveller can often be separated from a group PNR, but the booking should be split carefully.
Booking through an agent
An OTA or travel agency that issued the ticket may have to process voluntary cancellation. Air Serbia can identify the ticket status, but the seller can control fare collection and add its own disclosed service fee.
Obtain both the Air Serbia PNR and the agency reference. A ticket number beginning with 115 indicates Air Serbia stock but does not prove the carrier charged the passenger's card directly.

US 24-hour protection
For qualifying reservations to or from the United States bought directly from an airline at least seven days before departure, US DOT requires carriers to offer a 24-hour free cancellation or a 24-hour hold option. The rule does not apply in the same way to tickets purchased through every third-party agent.
Check when the reservation was made, who sold it, scheduled departure and whether Air Serbia offered hold rather than free cancellation. Preserve the booking timestamp and payment record. Do not assume a general worldwide 24-hour right for every Air Serbia ticket.
Illness, bereavement and exceptional personal events
Passenger illness or a family emergency does not normally convert a voluntary cancellation into EU261 compensation. Air Serbia may offer a contractual or discretionary exception, and travel insurance can provide cancellation cover.
Ask what documents are required before sending sensitive medical records. A concise certificate confirming inability to travel may be sufficient. Read insurance notice periods and exclusions independently from the airline's fare decision.
If the passenger was denied boarding by Air Serbia for a health or document reason at the airport, that is a different event from advance voluntary cancellation and needs its own reasonableness analysis.
Points, upgrades and extras
