Oman Air Paris CDG to Muscat compensation
A disrupted Oman Air journey beginning at Paris-Charles de Gaulle can qualify for EUR 600 per passenger under EU261 because the flight departs the EU. Delay normally requires arrival at least three hours late at Muscat or the final destination on one booking. Why Paris departures are covered
EU261 applies to departures from an EU airport regardless of the operating airline's nationality. Oman Air cannot reject a CDG-origin case simply because its registered office is outside Europe.
The inbound rule is narrower: a non-EU carrier's flight from a third country is generally not covered. The same Oman Air aircraft flying Muscat-CDG therefore requires an Oman-law, contractual or Montreal Convention analysis rather than an automatic EUR 600 demand.

EUR 600 and final arrival
Paris-Muscat is over 3,500 km, placing it in EU261's long-distance band. The standard figure is EUR 600 for a qualifying delay, cancellation or denied boarding. Rerouting that limits final arrival to no more than four hours late can reduce the amount to EUR 300.
For a one-ticket Paris-Muscat-Kochi journey, compare scheduled and actual arrival in Kochi. A two-hour delay at Muscat that causes a missed connection and an eleven-hour final delay is not capped at the first segment's lateness.
Use aircraft door opening as the arrival point, not touchdown. Convert both times into one zone. A result of 2 hours 58 minutes does not become three hours by rounding.
Cancellation notice from Oman Air
Fixed compensation normally falls away after notice at least 14 days ahead. Between seven and fourteen days, an alternative must leave no more than two hours early and arrive less than four hours late to satisfy the exception. Under seven days, it must leave no more than one hour early and arrive less than two hours late.
Save the first email, application notice or agent message. Compare replacement arrival at the last ticketed airport. A prompt CDG departure with a next-day onward connection can still fail the final-arrival window.

Disruption at Charles de Gaulle
Oman Air should provide information and, for a long route, care after the applicable wait. Appropriate refreshments and communication arise during a lengthy departure delay. If travel shifts overnight, hotel accommodation and airport-hotel transport may be due.
Ask the airline at the service point or through a written channel. If no assistance is supplied, buy reasonable items and keep detailed receipts. Food for the passenger is easier to recover than alcohol, luxury purchases or unrelated shopping.
When rebooking changes terminals or airports, preserve Oman Air's instructions and ground-transport receipts. Do not assume every Paris transfer expense is automatically reasonable; show why the alternative was imposed by the disruption.
Technical and external causes
Ordinary technical defects linked to aircraft operation generally do not qualify as extraordinary under EU case law. Hidden manufacturing defects, sabotage, severe weather, airport closure, security emergencies or binding air-traffic decisions can be different.
Oman Air must connect any alleged event to the specific CDG flight and demonstrate reasonable measures. A general reference to congestion or weather does not show whether other services operated or whether timely rerouting was possible.

Operating carrier and partner tickets
A WY flight code may appear on a ticket sold by a partner. EU261 liability generally follows the undertaking that actually operated the disrupted sector. Read the original ticket, not only the replacement boarding pass.
If Oman Air operated Paris-Muscat, address the statutory demand to Oman Air even when a travel agency issued the ticket. The agency may process fare reimbursement, but it does not replace the operator for fixed compensation.
If another airline operated, direct EU261 to that airline and retain Oman Air correspondence where it affected rerouting or the ticket.
Filing from France
Submit a written claim to Oman Air first. Include the complete ticket, passenger names, operating carrier, final arrival calculation, first cancellation notice, cause, replacement itinerary and receipts. Request EUR per passenger.
If unresolved, France has a national enforcement framework for passenger rights; individual payment, mediation and court options have their own admissibility and limitation requirements. Confirm the current official route at filing. Do not state that an enforcement complaint automatically collects private compensation.
An airline claim should be made promptly. The adopted future EU nine-month notice and 30-day response process was not yet applicable on 14 August 2026.
Worked family example
Two adults and one ticketed child travel CDG-Muscat-Phuket under one reservation. Oman Air cancels the Paris departure three days before travel and offers an itinerary reaching Phuket 13 hours late. No extraordinary event is established. The route exceeds 3,500 km and the short-notice alternative misses the exemption window, so the starting calculation is 3 x EUR 600 = EUR 1,800. A hotel supplied at CDG does not reduce that statutory figure. Any unreimbursed, reasonable transport is listed separately with receipts.
If one adult accepts a refund while the others take rerouting, record each election by passenger. Do not assume the booking must be claimed as one indivisible unit after the disruption.

Is the amount always EUR 600?
