How to use the LATAM compensation claim form

Submit a LATAM EU261 or UK261 compensation claim through the current LATAM Help Center “Create a case” route after building a complete evidence file. The form should identify the protected departure, every operating carrier, the original final destination, scheduled and actual arrival, the disruption and the amount requested per passenger. Keep fare refund, fixed compensation and care expenses on separate lines, then save the case number and exact submission.

Check your case in the form

Enter your route, date and type of disruption. We will check whether your case qualifies for a claim under EU 261/2004 or UK261.

Step 1 of 813% completed

What happened to your flight?

Claim up to €600 for a delayed or cancelled flight.

Choose the situation that applies to your flight:

The form is only the delivery mechanism. A claim succeeds because its decisive facts are visible and supported. Before typing into a session that can expire, prepare the text and attachments offline.

What LATAM's current process provides

LATAM's Help Center offers “Create a case” for requests, complaints and service problems. Its case-status function uses the email associated with the submission and sends access to the recorded cases. LATAM notes that forms in Germany, France and Italy can appear in local languages while handling may occur in English, Spanish or Portuguese.

Use the live categories shown on the filing date. Product labels can change, so do not rely on a screenshot from an old guide. Choose the closest disruption or compensation category and state EU261 or UK261 expressly in the claim body.

The case should be addressed to the operating airline. “LATAM” can refer to a group brand, an affiliate or the seller of a partner flight. An LA number alone is not enough; preserve the “operated by” line.

Prepare before opening the form

Create a folder with clear filenames:

  • 01-original-itinerary.pdf;
  • 02-etickets-and-passengers.pdf;
  • 03-boarding-passes.pdf;
  • 04-disruption-notice.pdf;
  • 05-replacement-itinerary.pdf;
  • 06-final-arrival-proof.pdf;
  • 07-care-receipts.pdf;
  • 08-authority-if-representing-adults.pdf.

Combine related pages when upload limits require it, but keep them readable. Do not send passport copies unless genuinely requested and necessary. Redact unrelated payment details while leaving passenger names, dates, ticket numbers and booking reference visible.

Step 1: preserve the original itinerary

Save the booking as it existed before LATAM changed it. Record origin, all connections, final destination, dates, scheduled times, booking reference and ticket numbers. My Trips can replace the original display after reaccommodation, so take screenshots early.

For a missed connection, include the complete one-ticket sequence. For separate bookings, disclose that separation rather than presenting them as one protected journey. The LATAM connection guide explains why that distinction controls final-arrival analysis.

Step 2: test EU261 or UK261 coverage

Write one sentence stating the territorial basis:

  • “The journey began at Madrid, so EU261 applies to the LATAM-operated departure.”
  • “The journey began at London Heathrow, so UK261 applies regardless of LATAM's nationality.”

Do not use those sentences for a LATAM-operated return beginning in Latin America. Such an inbound flight normally falls outside both regimes. Consult the direction-specific coverage guide before filing a fixed-sum demand.

Passenger citizenship, booking currency and destination do not replace the departure test. If an EU or UK partner operated an inbound flight, name that operator and apply the correct carrier-status branch.

Step 3: identify the operating airline and entity

Copy the exact legal or trading name from the e-ticket and boarding record. LATAM Airlines Brasil, LATAM Airlines Chile, LATAM Airlines Peru and other affiliates are not interchangeable labels. Partner-operated segments can point to Iberia, British Airways, Delta or another airline.

Attach the “operated by” evidence. If the form offers a country or entity field, choose the operator rather than merely the website on which the ticket was bought. The operating-carrier guide provides a full identification checklist.

Step 4: classify the disruption and final arrival

State whether the event was delay, cancellation, involuntary denied boarding or missed connection. Add the notice date for cancellation. For delay or connection, compare scheduled final arrival with actual aircraft-door opening at the final destination on the protected booking.

A compact chronology is easier to audit:

EventLocal date and time
Scheduled first departure14 August, 10:20
LATAM disruption notice14 August, 08:45
Scheduled final arrival15 August, 06:30
Actual final door opening15 August, 12:08
Total final delay5 h 38 min

If staff gave a cause, quote it accurately and identify who said it. Do not invent a technical explanation from a flight-tracker code.

Step 5: calculate each remedy separately

List fixed compensation by passenger. EU long-haul claims commonly use EUR 600; UK long-haul claims use GBP 520, with possible 50% reductions for timely rerouting. Show multiplication and ticket numbers.

Then list other categories independently:

  1. statutory compensation;
  2. reasonable meals, hotel and transport;
  3. reimbursement of unused ticket or services;
  4. reasonable replacement transport where LATAM failed to reroute;
  5. any specifically proven damage under another legal basis.

Do not subtract a meal voucher from fixed compensation. Do not call LATAM Wallet credit a statutory payment without checking what it represents. The amount guide includes family calculations.

Step 6: assemble the evidence bundle

Check that every decisive assertion has a document. Original itinerary proves the contract. Boarding passes and baggage tags support travel and connections. Messages prove notice and rebooking. Airport or airline evidence supports arrival. Itemised receipts prove reasonable care spending.

For an involuntary denied-boarding case, add the gate notice and any written record that the passenger did not volunteer. For cancellation, keep the first notification with timestamp. For a technical-fault refusal, preserve each version of LATAM's explanation.

Convert photos into legible PDFs where helpful. A fifty-page unsorted upload conceals evidence; a concise indexed bundle makes review quicker.

Step 7: create the LATAM Help Center case

Open LATAM's Help Center, select “Create a case,” and follow the current category sequence. Enter the email you will retain, exact passenger data and booking details. Paste the prepared chronology and legal request.

A usable claim body reads:

“Passengers A and B travelled on one LATAM-operated booking from Madrid to Recife via Sao Paulo. Scheduled final arrival was 13:40; actual door opening was 19:18 after the first sector was delayed for an ordinary operational reason. We request EUR 600 per passenger under Regulation 261/2004, total EUR 1,200, and EUR 56.20 in separately itemised care expenses. The original itinerary, boarding records, replacement itinerary and receipts are attached.”

Review amounts, dates and attachments before submitting. Screenshots of a completed but unsent form are not proof that LATAM received it.

Step 8: preserve the case record and response

Save the confirmation page, case number, confirmation email, submitted text and attachment list. Use LATAM's case-status route with the same email. Record every later response and payment offer.

If LATAM rejects, request the precise reason and supporting facts. If it does not resolve the case, escalation depends on the covered departure airport: EU national procedures differ, while UK passengers follow current CAA/ADR or PACT guidance. The escalation guide maps those choices.

Fields that commonly cause mistakes

Flight number

Enter the affected operating segment, but also write the full itinerary in the narrative. The form may focus on one flight even though final-destination delay controls a connection claim.

Compensation versus refund

A refund category can process unused fare without evaluating EUR 600 or GBP 520. If no dedicated compensation category appears, create a complaint case and label the statutory claim clearly. Do not submit only “please refund me” when the request includes multiple remedies.

Bank and currency

Provide payment details only in LATAM's secure requested channel. EU261 compensation should be claimed in euros and UK261 in pounds unless a lawful payment arrangement says otherwise. A voluntary conversion should use a transparent rate and should not hide an underpayment.

Family claims

List every passenger, ticket and amount. LATAM may seek authority from other adults or a guardian relationship for minors. Keep consent proportional and do not omit passengers from the arithmetic.

What not to attach

Avoid unrelated medical records, whole bank statements, repeated screenshots and personal correspondence with no connection to the event. Do not expose full card numbers. A precise file is safer and more persuasive than indiscriminate disclosure.

Do not submit altered documents or estimates as facts. If actual arrival is not yet confirmed, say how it was derived and update the case when better evidence appears.

After submission

Check the case status periodically but keep your own record. If LATAM asks for a document already supplied, respond with the filename and attach it again. If it offers miles, wallet credit or a voucher, ask what claim that offer would settle.

For an EU departure, the competent escalation route generally follows the state where the incident occurred. For a UK departure, current CAA guidance generally expects the airline's final response or eight weeks before external escalation. Court limitation is forum-specific, so a pending case should not be allowed to drift indefinitely.

The future EU nine-month notification and 30-day response provisions adopted in 2026 must not be described as universally applicable on 25 August 2026. Use current rules until the reform's application date.

FAQ

Where is the LATAM compensation form?

Use the live LATAM Help Center and choose “Create a case.” Select the closest disruption category and state EU261 or UK261 explicitly in the submission.

Is a LATAM refund request the same as a compensation claim?

No. Ticket reimbursement, fixed statutory compensation and care expenses are different remedies and should be requested on separate lines.

Can I submit one case for a family?

You can coordinate one file, but identify every passenger and ticket and calculate each person's amount. LATAM may request authority from other adults.

What proves that LATAM received my claim?

Preserve the confirmation page, case number, confirmation email and the exact text and attachment list. A draft or screenshot before submission is insufficient.

Should I wait for the future EU nine-month rule?

No. It is not a reason to delay. Apply the current regime and relevant national limitation rules while evidence remains available.
