flydubai delayed, lost or damaged baggage claims

Short answer: Report missing or damaged baggage at the arrival airport immediately and obtain the Property Irregularity Report number. flydubai says passengers unable to report at the airport should use its contact form within seven days of arrival; after three days update contents and after more than five days complete its inventory and claim form. Its conditions require written notice within seven days for physical damage and within 21 days after delayed baggage is returned. Where Montreal applies, the current maximum is 1,519 SDR per passenger for proven baggage loss, not an automatic payment.

The PIR starts tracing but does not finish the money claim

At baggage services provide the tag, boarding pass, description and delivery address. Check every digit of the PIR and photograph the report, tag, empty belt or damage before leaving. If the desk is closed, document that fact and use flydubai's official baggage subject promptly. The website currently specifies seven days for an online report when airport reporting was impossible.

Tracing and compensation are separate. Keep the PIR active, update contact details and submit receipts or damage documents through the stated channel. Multiple tracing reports can fragment the search. One accurate file with a unique reference is more useful than repeated general complaints.

Follow flydubai's tracing milestones

If the bag remains missing after three days, flydubai asks passengers to update its contents through the delayed-bag report. After more than five days, it requests a baggage inventory and claim form. List brand, colour, distinctive features and contents honestly. An AirTag location can support the search but does not replace the PIR or prove carrier possession by itself.

Keep the temporary delivery address current. Where customs rules prevent courier delivery, collection may be required from the handling agent. Record when the bag was actually placed at your disposal; that date is important for the written delayed-baggage deadline. Inspect the suitcase immediately on return.

Seven and 21 days refer to different baggage events

Eventflydubai conditions and process
Physical damageNotify in writing immediately and no later than 7 days after receipt
Missing bag not reported at airportOnline request within 7 days of arrival under the published process
Delayed baggage expense claimWritten notice no later than 21 days after the bag is placed at disposal
Bag treated as lostFollow inventory process promptly and preserve any stricter contractual notice issue

Do not wait for a phone callback until the last day. A PIR may not by itself contain the itemised financial demand. Save submission time and attachment list. Court action under Montreal has a separate two-year limit; it does not extend the short written-notice periods.

Essential purchases must fit the passenger's situation

A traveller arriving at the start of a trip may need basic toiletries and clothing. A resident returning home may have less need for replacements. flydubai's public page currently describes reimbursement up to USD 50 per delay day for up to three days, in voucher form, and excludes residents of the arrival country from that stated offer. It also says international conventions and applicable law govern liability.

Preserve itemised receipts and explain need. Do not treat the website figure as the Montreal liability cap or assume a contractual voucher can reduce mandatory rights in every jurisdiction. Disclose insurance payments and avoid claiming the same shirt twice. Purchases after the bag is returned normally fall outside the delay period.

Damage evidence comes before repair or disposal

Photograph all sides, wheel, handle, lock, shell and contents with the tag visible. flydubai asks for the boarding pass, branded damage photograph, repair receipt and excess-baggage proof within seven days; an irreparable bag needs a repair-shop letter. Keep the item available for inspection before discarding or altering it.

Normal scratches, stains or wear may be excluded, unlike a broken wheel or cracked structure caused in carriage. List missing contents separately and report suspected theft immediately. Valuable, fragile and prohibited checked items may face contractual defences. A police report can support theft evidence but does not replace the carrier notice.

1,519 SDR is a ceiling for proven loss

flydubai's current conditions state a 1,519 SDR per-passenger maximum for checked and unchecked baggage damage where the Montreal Convention applies, unless a higher special declaration was accepted. SDR is an IMF unit with a changing exchange rate. Do not publish one fixed EUR or USD value as guaranteed settlement.

For a lost bag, itemise description, maker, age, original price, current value and proof. Depreciation can matter. The limit combines relevant baggage loss for the passenger; it is not paid simply because the suitcase did not arrive. Family contents in one bag should be attributed with evidence rather than multiplied by the number of travellers.

The final operating carrier may handle a partner baggage file

flydubai tells passengers with a partner-operated baggage problem to report to the final carrier that operated the flight. Preserve all tags and boarding passes on an Emirates or interline journey. The baggage addressee can differ from the airline responsible for an earlier cancellation or delay, so maintain separate case numbers.

If the passenger also arrived more than three hours late on a covered journey, create another file for EU261 or UK261. The bag's delivery time does not extend the passenger's legal arrival delay, and fixed compensation does not reimburse the suitcase. A clean separation protects both demands from being closed by one small voucher or repair payment.
