Air Arabia Maroc no-show: ticket value and airport-tax refund

If a passenger does not present for an Air Arabia Maroc flight, the current Conditions of Carriage state that the booking is invalid, no future-flight credit is provided and the unused airport-tax element can be claimed. This does not mean every amount labelled tax, fee or surcharge is automatically refundable. Request an itemised calculation showing which government or airport charges Air Arabia no longer had to remit and any service charge deducted.

Choose the situation that applies to your flight:

A no-show is different from a flight cancelled by Air Arabia. If the airline disrupted the journey first, preserve its message and do not let the record be treated as a passenger absence. The cancelled-flight guide covers the stronger statutory remedies.

The most valuable action is often before departure. If travel is impossible, check the voluntary-cancellation guide while the fare deadline is still open.

What counts as a no-show

A no-show generally occurs when the passenger does not check in or does not reach the boarding gate by the required deadline for an operating flight. Checking in online is not enough if the passenger then arrives late at the gate. Keep timestamps and airport evidence if a queue, system failure or incorrect instruction caused the problem, because the classification may be disputed.

Air Arabia's conditions also state that the unused part of a booking can be cancelled if the passenger misses a flight in the required sequence. A traveller who skips the outbound sector should not assume the return remains active. Contact the airline or issuing agent immediately and ask for written confirmation before relying on a later segment.

If Air Arabia denied boarding despite timely presentation, a confirmed booking and valid documents, do not accept a no-show label without challenge. Save the boarding credential, queue position, gate time and staff explanation. The denied-boarding guide explains the separate EC261 or UK261 test for covered departures.

Ticket value, credit and fare rules

The current Conditions of Carriage say that a no-show passenger receives neither carriage on another flight nor an amount usable as future credit. By contrast, a timely voluntary cancellation under an eligible fare may preserve value after charges. The financial difference makes the cancellation deadline important.

Do not rely only on the words Basic, Value or Ultimate after departure. Fare flexibility operates before stated cut-offs, while the no-show provision applies once the passenger fails to travel. Promotional, free, group or agent-issued tickets can have additional restrictions.

If a website error prevented timely cancellation, preserve a screen recording or screenshots with the device time, PNR and error message. Contact the call centre or seller while still inside the deadline. That evidence does not guarantee recovery, but it can distinguish a failed timely attempt from inactivity.

Which taxes may be refundable

Air Arabia's carriage terms state that a passenger who does not use a ticket may claim taxes, fees and charges that the airline has no obligation to pay to a government or other authority, less any applicable service charge. The no-show clause separately refers to the airport-tax element of unused flights.

This normally points to passenger-based charges triggered only by actual travel. It does not automatically include the base fare, an airline surcharge, card fee, optional baggage, seat or insurance. Labels vary by market, and some amounts may still be remitted despite non-travel. Ask for the tax name, original amount, remitted amount, refundable amount and deduction instead of applying a guessed percentage.

For a return booking, identify the specific unused sectors. If one flight was taken, only charges associated with later unused travel may be relevant. If several passengers missed the flight, request a per-passenger breakdown because taxes are commonly assessed individually.

How to request the airport-tax element

Gather the itinerary receipt, ticket number if issued, 3O booking reference, passenger name, unused sector and payment evidence. State that the passenger did not travel and requests the refundable airport-tax element under Articles 7.3.6 and 8.2.4 of the current Conditions of Carriage, with an itemised calculation.

Use the booking channel that controls payment. Air Arabia's conditions allow repayment to the named passenger or the person who paid, and a restriction can require payment to the payer. If an OTA collected the money, ask both parties to identify the issuer and avoid paying an unexplained agent fee merely to submit the request.

Save the form confirmation and response. If the airline says simply that the ticket is non-refundable, answer that the request concerns unconsumed airport taxes rather than the fare, and ask which charges were remitted. A fare's non-refundable status does not answer that narrower accounting question.

When passenger rights rules still matter

EC261 does not compensate a passenger who arrived late or chose not to travel on an operating flight. However, it can matter where Air Arabia cancelled a covered departure, moved it forward significantly or involuntarily refused boarding. Establish which event happened first.

For Air Arabia Maroc, direction matters. A departure from the EU can be covered by EC261 and one from the UK by UK261. A direct 3O departure from Morocco normally is not. Territorial coverage does not convert genuine passenger absence into airline fault, but it can determine remedies where the carrier caused the non-carriage.

If illness or another personal event caused the missed trip, review travel insurance. A policy may reimburse listed risks after evidence and an excess, while airport-tax recovery remains a separate request. Avoid duplicate payment for the same ticket component.

Protect the rest of the itinerary

Contact Air Arabia or the issuing agent as soon as a sector is missed. Ask whether the return or onward flights remain confirmed, what action is needed and whether any fare difference or reinstatement is possible. Do not make a second booking until the status of the original record is clear.

Keep a written timeline of check-in, gate arrival, calls and later confirmations. If baggage was accepted but the passenger did not board, follow airline instructions and record its return. A baggage issue does not by itself preserve the ticket.

Rules and terms were checked on 26 August 2026. Taxes, service charges and fare conditions differ by country and booking, so request a booking-specific calculation rather than treating an example as universal.

FAQ

Does Air Arabia Maroc give credit after a no-show?

Its current Conditions of Carriage say no future-flight credit is provided when the passenger does not show. A timely eligible cancellation before the cut-off is different.

Can I recover every tax shown on the ticket?

Not automatically. The claim concerns charges the airline no longer has to pay to a government or authority because the flight was unused, subject to the applicable terms and service charge.

Will missing the outbound cancel my return flight?

It can affect later sectors because the booking must generally be used in sequence. Contact Air Arabia or the issuer immediately and obtain written status.

What if I was at the gate but staff marked me as a no-show?

Preserve boarding proof, gate time and the refusal reason. Timely involuntary refusal may require denied-boarding analysis rather than no-show treatment.

Does EC261 compensate me for arriving late at the airport?

No. EC261 does not normally compensate passenger lateness. It may apply only if a covered airline-side cancellation, delay or refusal caused the non-carriage.
