Air Arabia Maroc claim time limit: EC261, Montreal and court deadlines
There is no single worldwide deadline for every Air Arabia Maroc claim. EC261 court limitation depends on the competent national law and forum; UK261 actions commonly use six years in England and Wales or five years in Scotland; Montreal Convention actions are generally extinguished after two years; delayed-baggage notice is 21 days after delivery and damage notice is seven days. Submit early even when the apparent court period is long. Operational data, messages and receipts become harder to recover, and a wrong forum assumption can be costly.
EC261 limitation follows national procedural law
EC261 creates substantive rights but does not provide one universal period for bringing the fixed-compensation action. The Court of Justice has held that national rules determine the limitation period, subject to EU principles. The competent forum and its conflict rules therefore matter.
Do not state that the law of the departure airport always decides. Jurisdiction can arise from the itinerary, place of performance, carrier establishment, consumer rules or contract, and each possibility needs its own analysis. An enforcement-authority complaint does not necessarily pause the civil court clock.
The flight must first be covered. A direct Air Arabia Maroc service from Morocco to the EU normally lacks EC261 protection, so a long national limitation period cannot create the missing substantive right.
UK261 examples
For a UK departure operated by 3O, UK261 can apply. A court action in England and Wales is commonly analysed under the six-year period for a simple contract or statutory debt, while Scotland commonly uses a five-year prescriptive period. Northern Ireland requires its own rules.
These are not permissions to wait. Identify whether ADR or the CAA's Passenger Advice and Complaints Team has a shorter eligibility window. A scheme filing and a civil limitation period are different. Check current admission rules before relying on either.

Montreal Convention and baggage notices
The Montreal Convention generally provides a two-year period for bringing an action, calculated from arrival, the date the aircraft ought to have arrived, or the date carriage stopped. That period concerns legal action and should not be replaced by an airline's internal customer-service target.
Written baggage notices are much shorter. Apparent damage should be protested within seven days after receipt. Delay should be claimed in writing within 21 days after the baggage was placed at the passenger's disposal. A Property Irregularity Report records the airport event but should not be assumed to satisfy every later written-claim requirement.

Airline and agent deadlines are not the whole law
Air Arabia may publish form or fare deadlines for specific requests. An OTA can impose administrative processes. Those conditions can matter for voluntary cancellation, credits or service refunds, but they do not automatically shorten a mandatory statutory right where such shortening is prohibited.
Conversely, a statutory compensation period does not preserve an optional fare benefit after its booking deadline. Identify whether the request concerns airline-caused disruption or the passenger's voluntary change.
Keep the contract version, live fare rules and submission confirmation. If contradictory Air Arabia pages appear, ask which rule was incorporated into this booking rather than selecting whichever wording is most favourable in isolation.
The adopted EU reform
EU institutions approved a reform in July 2026 that includes a future nine-month period for passengers to submit certain claims and a future 30-day airline response period. On 26 August 2026 those provisions are not yet applicable. Their operation depends on official publication and the specified application date.
Do not confuse the future nine-month submission step with national court limitation. They serve different functions. Once the reform applies, a passenger may need to satisfy the airline-notification step while also preserving the longer or shorter litigation clock relevant to the forum.
Build a deadline ledger
Record flight date, scheduled arrival, actual arrival, first complaint, airline response, baggage delivery, written baggage claim, ADR filing and any court date. Keep proof of transmission, not only a draft.
Where several remedies exist, use separate rows. A delayed bag delivered ten days later creates a 21-day written-claim calculation from delivery, while an EC261 delay claim from the same journey follows another rule. A chargeback or insurance notice can add more deadlines without replacing airline liability.
