Air Arabia Maroc compensation calculator: EUR 250 or EUR 400
For a direct Air Arabia Maroc flight from Europe to Morocco, the usual EC261 result is EUR 250 per eligible passenger up to 1,500 km or EUR 400 above 1,500 km and up to 3,500 km. Distance alone is not enough: the flight must start in the EU, be operated by the identified carrier, meet the delay, cancellation or denied-boarding trigger, and survive the extraordinary-circumstances test.

Choose the situation that applies to your flight:
Use the exact airport pair and actual operator. A country-to-country estimate can put a route on the wrong side of the 1,500 km boundary.
Six inputs for the calculation
| Input | What to enter | Common mistake |
|---|---|---|
| Departure | Airport for the disrupted flight or protected journey | Using passenger residence |
| Destination | Last destination on one qualifying booking | Adding a separate ticket |
| Operator | Airline beside "operated by" | Assuming every Air Arabia service is 3O |
| Event | Delay, cancellation or denied boarding | Treating a voluntary cancellation as disruption |
| Timing | Final arrival or cancellation notice date | Using take-off delay only |
| Cause | Flight-specific reason and measures | Accepting "operational" as a complete answer |
The Air Arabia Maroc compensation overview explains how those inputs interact. This page owns the arithmetic, not the full legal doctrine for every cause.
Step 1: confirm territorial coverage
An Air Arabia Maroc service leaving an EU airport can fall within EC261 because all EU departures are covered regardless of airline nationality. A direct 3O service leaving Morocco for the EU normally does not, because Air Arabia Maroc is not an EU carrier.
For a UK departure, use UK261 and sterling amounts. A direct Morocco-to-UK return operated by 3O is normally outside UK261. Do not convert EUR 400 into pounds; the UK rules define their own fixed bands.
If several sectors appear on one ticket, supply the complete itinerary. A protected journey that begins in the EU and continues on one reservation may require a final-destination analysis, while two independent PNRs usually remain separate.
Step 2: identify the operator
Air Arabia Maroc uses IATA code 3O. Air Arabia PJSC uses G9, Air Arabia Abu Dhabi 3L, Air Arabia Egypt E5, and Air Arabia DMM 4P. Royal Air Maroc uses AT. Shared branding or one rewards programme does not transfer operating responsibility.
Save the original e-ticket, boarding pass and any replacement itinerary. If the operating airline changes after cancellation, record both the cancelled and replacement operator. The group-company guide helps match a claim to the right entity.
Step 3: measure distance correctly
EC261 uses great-circle distance between relevant airports. It is the shortest path over the earth's surface, not road distance, scheduled flying time or miles credited by a loyalty programme. Airport codes are safer than city names when a metropolitan area has several airports.
| Covered EC261 distance | Standard amount |
|---|---|
| 1,500 km or less | EUR 250 |
| More than 1,500 km to 3,500 km | EUR 400 |
| More than 3,500 km between EU and non-EU points | EUR 600 |
Direct Europe-Morocco services usually produce EUR 250 or EUR 400. Do not promise one band for every French, Spanish, Italian, Belgian, Dutch or German departure. Calculate each pair. A connecting protected journey can require a different distance assessment from the first physical sector.
Step 4: apply the event threshold
For delay, final arrival must normally be at least three hours late. Arrival is generally when a door opens and passengers can leave. A five-hour departure delay creates a separate right to abandon travel, but does not automatically generate fixed compensation.
For cancellation, record the first notice. Fourteen days or more normally removes the fixed payment. Shorter notice requires the replacement departure and arrival windows to be checked. For denied boarding, determine whether the passenger was refused involuntarily despite a valid booking, documents and timely presentation.
Step 5: test the reason
Routine defects and internal operational decisions often remain within the airline's sphere. Severe weather, air traffic restrictions, airport closure or security events can be extraordinary when the carrier proves the link to this service and the reasonable measures considered.
A calculator cannot verify an airline defence merely from a category selected by the passenger. Treat the output as an estimate until the actual reason and evidence are available. Fixed compensation can fail while reimbursement, rerouting and care remain due.
Family and group examples
A covered route under 1,500 km is cancelled the day before travel for an ordinary operational reason. Two adults and two children with confirmed seats may each receive EUR 250, giving a possible total of EUR 1,000. The family can also choose reimbursement or rerouting and document necessary care.
Another family travels on a covered route over 1,500 km and arrives three hours and forty minutes late. Five eligible passengers at EUR 400 produce EUR 2,000. The fare price, one shared PNR and use of a promotional code do not reduce the per-passenger sum.
An infant without a paid seat should not be added automatically. Inspect the ticket and fare. A traveller who voluntarily surrendered a seat for an agreed voucher also needs the agreement analysed rather than being counted as involuntarily denied boarding.
Keep other remedies outside the multiplication
Ticket reimbursement returns the relevant fare; care repays reasonable meals, accommodation and transfers; baggage claims compensate proven loss under Montreal rules. None should be multiplied by the EC261 amount. List each receipt once and prevent double recovery.
Record the formula in the claim: airport pair, calculated distance, passenger count, event, arrival or notice timing, and amount per person. Attach evidence rather than only a screenshot of a calculator result.
The legal position was checked on 26 August 2026. The July 2026 EU reform is adopted but not yet applicable, so current thresholds and procedures remain the basis of this estimate.
FAQ
Is every Europe-Morocco route worth EUR 400?
No. Exact airport pairs at or below 1,500 km fall in the EUR 250 band; longer direct pairs up to 3,500 km use EUR 400.
Can I calculate from scheduled flight duration?
No. Compensation distance is based on airport coordinates and the relevant protected journey, not timetable duration.
Does a family receive one amount or one per passenger?
Each eligible ticketed passenger has an individual fixed claim, even when everyone shares one reservation number.
Is EUR 600 possible on a direct Europe-Morocco flight?
Direct routes are normally below 3,500 km. A longer protected connecting journey needs its own itinerary and distance analysis rather than an automatic EUR 600 assumption.
Does a calculator prove extraordinary circumstances?
No. It can estimate the band, but the airline's flight-specific cause and reasonable measures still require evidence.
