This guide addresses Tunisair OTA and package booking for Tunisair travel. The law and airline information were checked on 28 August 2026. Verify the route and operator for the travel date.

First test the direction of the flight

Tunisair is a Tunisian carrier. It is not an EU or UK airline. EC261 can cover its European departures. A direct Tunisia-to-Europe flight is normally outside EC261.

UK261 uses a similar direction test. A UK departure can be protected. A direct Tunisair return from Tunisia normally is not.

Nationality and payment currency do not alter the test. Examine each direction separately. A protected outbound does not protect the return automatically.

After scope, examine the event, arrival delay, distance and cause. A covered flight still needs all other conditions.

Map the seller, organiser, ticketing airline and operator

The OTA may collect payment and deliver messages without operating the aircraft. Tunisair can still face a covered EU261 disruption claim. A seller should not redirect every issue to the airline when it controls the refund transaction.

A package organiser has duties for the combined holiday that are separate from EC261. Hotel loss, substitute arrangements and price reduction may belong to package law. Preserve the package certificate and organiser communications.

Notice timing can become disputed when Tunisair informs the agent before the passenger. Keep every timestamp and ask who received what information. Do not assume the airline met the cancellation notice defence merely by sending data into a booking system.

Self-transfer itineraries assembled by an OTA can look like one journey. Check PNRs, ticket numbers and connection guarantees. A commercial guarantee is not identical to one-reservation EC261 protection, though it may fund replacement travel.

Worked example

An OTA sells a Tunisair flight with hotel as a qualifying package. Tunisair cancels the covered EU departure. The passenger seeks fixed compensation from the operator, traces ticket reimbursement and separately asks the organiser to solve the holiday consequences.

What can be requested in a covered Tunisair OTA and package booking case?

Fixed payment, ticket choices and care costs are separate. List each requested amount.

EC261 normally uses great-circle distance. A protected through booking uses its final destination. Timely rerouting can sometimes reduce a fixed payment.

Extraordinary events may remove only the fixed payment. They do not erase every duty. Tunisair must prove the event, causal link and reasonable measures.

The EU reform approved in July 2026 is not yet applied on the checked date. Its future nine-month claim rule is not a current deadline. Nor is its 30-day reply rule. Existing law and national limitation rules still govern.
