Air Arabia Maroc or Royal Air Maroc: identify the correct airline
Air Arabia Maroc and Royal Air Maroc are separate Moroccan airlines. Air Arabia Maroc normally uses IATA code 3O; Royal Air Maroc uses AT. Always check "operated by" because a codeshare, replacement flight or wet-lease arrangement can make the marketing code incomplete evidence.
Why passengers confuse the names
Both brands contain "Air" and "Maroc", sell Morocco-Europe travel and may appear in the same airport search. Booking agents can shorten names, while card statements can display the seller rather than operator. An itinerary may also be reissued after disruption.
Use three records together: the original e-ticket, boarding pass and airport or airline message. Write down the flight number but do not rely on it alone. If the airline that physically operated the service differs from the marketing carrier, preserve the operated-by wording.

EC261 direction is similar, identity is still essential
Both airlines are Moroccan rather than EU carriers. A flight operated by either airline and departing from an EU airport can fall within EC261. A direct flight operated by either from Morocco to the EU normally does not.
That shared territorial outcome does not make the carriers interchangeable. The operating airline must answer for its own covered delay, cancellation or denied boarding. A passenger cannot choose whichever website offers the easier form.
For a connecting journey beginning in the EU, the complete reservation can matter. The Court of Justice's Wegener case involved Royal Air Maroc on a one-booking journey from Berlin through Casablanca to Agadir. It should not be cited as proof that Air Arabia Maroc operated a flight or that every separate Moroccan sector is covered.
Match the remedy to the respondent
Fixed EC261 or UK261 compensation usually follows the operating carrier. Reimbursement of ticket money can involve the airline or agent that issued and controls the ticket. Baggage claims under the Montreal Convention can be made against the contracting or actual carrier in circumstances set by the Convention.
A replacement after cancellation creates two records. If 3O cancels and places the passenger on AT, keep both. The original cancellation cause and compensation analysis generally concern the planned operator, while baggage handling or delay on the replacement can concern the airline that actually performed that segment.
Separately purchased seats, baggage or meals normally require a service-refund request to the seller of that extra. Do not add those prices to EUR 250 or EUR 400.
Examples
An EU departure carries number 3O... and the ticket says operated by Air Arabia Maroc. The passenger should use Air Arabia's matching EC261 channel. Sending the claim to Royal Air Maroc because the destination is Casablanca would be an avoidable error.
A boarding pass shows AT... and operation by Royal Air Maroc. Air Arabia Maroc has no fixed-compensation liability merely because an OTA labelled the itinerary "Air Morocco". The passenger should use Royal Air Maroc's current process.
Air Arabia Maroc cancels a service and rebooks the traveller onto Royal Air Maroc. Save the original cancellation notice, both schedules and final arrival. A refund or expense issue should identify which company made each promise.
Correcting a claim sent to the wrong airline
Ask the recipient to confirm that it did not operate the service and, if possible, identify the operator. Preserve that reply. Then submit to the correct company with the original filing date and explanation, but do not assume the first submission stopped any deadline.
State the code, full legal name, route and event in the subject line. Attach only relevant records. If both companies point at each other, request the operational record and escalate with the booking evidence rather than opening repeated generic contacts.

Baggage and airport evidence
At the airport, create a Property Irregularity Report with the handler before leaving when baggage is missing or damaged. The handler's desk branding may not identify the airline liable under the transport contract. Retain the baggage tag, ticket and PIR number.
For delay or cancellation, photograph the departure board and capture announcements, but identify the exact airport code. Casablanca, Marrakech and other Moroccan airports are not interchangeable. Ground-handler statements should be treated as evidence, not automatically as a final legal admission by either carrier.
