AJet: EUR 250, 400 or 600 per passenger

Short answer: Great-circle distance and the intra-EU or international category set the band; fare paid is not the cap on a statutory sum; this finding on legal test controls the analysis of the compensation amount for AJet. An AJet-operated flight starting in the United Kingdom is assessed under UK261, while a departure from an EU or EEA airport is assessed under EU261 even though AJet is Turkish; this finding on outbound direction controls the analysis of the compensation amount for AJet; the reverse direction needs a fresh test: arrival in Europe alone does not create EU261 or UK261 protection.

Choose the situation that applies to your flight:

An AJet amount sheet may contain euros under more than one legal system and sterling under another, so the currency must be labelled with its source. Start with the VF direction and event, then choose the applicable EU261, UK261 or SHY-PASSENGER scale. Do not combine figures from those regimes or multiply a headline sum before every traveller is tested. The clearest European and British cases remain protected departures from those territories, while a Turkey-origin return needs its own Turkish-law analysis rather than a European promise based on destination.

Start the arithmetic only after a coverage result

A table showing EUR 250, 400 and 600 is not an eligibility decision. Confirm the protected direction, operator and qualifying event first. Then measure the great-circle distance relevant to the contractual journey and identify whether the route is wholly within the EU framework or crosses its external boundary. AJet's current passenger-rights brochure lists EUR 100 for qualifying domestic Turkish flights and EUR 250, 400 or 600 for qualifying international events under SHY-PASSENGER; EU261 and UK261 retain their own tests and currencies; this finding on amount controls the analysis of the compensation amount for AJet. The fare, package price and amount paid with points do not normally cap a fixed award, although they matter to separate reimbursement calculations.

Passenger totals and shared bills use different multiplication

In case 412, 3 eligible passengers can each have a statutory row. A family does not multiply one hotel room, taxi or jointly paid meal receipt by 3; those are actual expenses with one payer and one total. Infants, staff tickets or fares not available to the public may need specific review. Record the person, ticket, distance band, arrival outcome and proposed amount on every personal line so the total can be audited rather than guessed.

A fifty-per-cent reduction has its own arrival test

When rerouting reaches the destination within prescribed windows, the regulation can permit a 50 per cent reduction of fixed compensation. It is not enough that AJet offered another flight or that the traveller eventually accepted it. Compare the original scheduled arrival with the actual arrival after rerouting and cite the correct distance band. Refund, care, downgrade and baggage amounts are not folded into that percentage. Each compensates a different loss and should remain visible.

Amount calculation sheet for an EU departure sold under a partner code but shown as operated by AJet

  • Write the coverage result before selecting a currency or distance band.
  • Measure the legally relevant journey rather than one convenient segment.
  • Identify whether the route is intra-EU or crosses an external border.
  • Create one row per eligible passenger and ticket.
  • Test rerouted arrival before applying any fifty-per-cent reduction.
  • Keep fare refund and actual expenses outside the fixed-sum column.
  • Deduct a prior payment only when it compensated the same disadvantage.
  • Show the final formula instead of stating one unexplained total.

Send a focused request and choose escalation

Distance bands apply per eligible passenger and are measured against the contractually relevant journey (AJet; file 412). They are not a refund percentage and are not reduced merely because the fare was discounted (AJet; matter 412).

Rerouting can permit a statutory 50 per cent reduction only within defined arrival windows (AJet; matter 412). It does not authorise an arbitrary reduction because the carrier offered some alternative transport (AJet; record 412).

AJet can place several currencies and legal systems on one passenger's documents. Do not convert the Turkish SHY figures into a supposed EU award or mix UK sterling bands with euro calculations. For an AJet return beginning in Turkey and ending in Britain, file 412 first names the governing direction and operator, then shows distance, endpoint arrival and any permitted reduction. A separate column records the fare, care receipts and other proven loss. This makes the requested total auditable and prevents an earlier voucher from being deducted twice.

The current distance bands remain the calculation basis on 10 September 2026 (AJet; matter 412). Future thresholds in the deferred reform must not be substituted into a claim made under today's regime (AJet; record 412).

AJet file 412 should end with a currency check. Identify whether the legal line is denominated under EU261, UK261 or SHY-PASSENGER before converting anything for convenience. Show the original figure and any conversion separately so an exchange-rate calculation cannot be mistaken for the statutory amount itself.

Test the arithmetic backwards from the proposed total (AJet; matter 412). Every passenger row needs a ticket, territorial result, qualifying event, relevant destination, distance category and any rerouting reduction supported by recorded arrival time (AJet; record 412). Children with their own seats remain visible; non-public or unusual fares receive a note rather than an assumption (AJet; case chronology 412). Shared hotel, meal and taxi invoices belong below the passenger rows at their real cost (AJet; file 412). Keep original currencies and identify the date and purpose of any conversion (AJet; matter 412). A payment described as fare repayment must not be silently deducted from a statutory award, and the liability ceiling for baggage must never be treated as another fixed distance band (AJet; record 412).

Name the missing record, responsible company and next action in the closing sentence (AJet; matter 412). Reconcile the balance with every payment already received, label any estimate and retain the dated calculation used (AJet; record 412). The result remains actionable without turning an unresolved condition into certainty (AJet; case chronology 412).

FAQ: Questions passengers ask about the compensation amount

Is compensation limited by my ticket price?

AJet: No. The fixed statutory band is generally independent of fare price; unused-ticket reimbursement follows a different calculation.

Is the amount paid per booking?

AJet: No. It is assessed for every eligible passenger, while shared actual expenses are claimed only at their real cost.

When can the carrier halve the award?

AJet: Only where the legal rerouting-arrival window for the relevant distance band is satisfied, not simply because an alternative was offered.

Does a connection change the distance?

AJet: It can affect which contractual destination is relevant. Establish one booking and final destination before measuring.

Can I add hotel costs to the fixed amount?

AJet: Yes as a separate, evidenced care line where those costs were reasonable and the airline did not provide the required assistance.
